So my attempt to be creative, leading ♦8 is ... plain stupid?

I pictured declarer with ♠AJ(x) ♥AQ(x) - so my reasoning was to have partner lead a major through declarer.... well - it may be (un)original, and it failed ....

I think a diamond is plain stu...
I love passive leads, but how often shall pd lead a major? Three times?
He won´t have sufficent values for this idea.
So I have to decide now which suit to develop and I go for a spade too.
With KQTx it would be the king, with KQxx 4. best. With KQ9x I don´t know, but I had tried a low one at the table.
Kind Regards

Roland

Declarer will be bal. with a 3-3-3-4 or maybe
4-4 in the minors and 13-15 HCP.

Lead: Low Spades.

Assuming we play IMP's, this is not the
time to go passive, they will have enough
power to make 3NT, so you have to attack
now, spade is less risky than hearts.

plain stupid? No, just creative.
It seldom pays to go creative unless
you have a fairly specific reason.

As Codo pointed out, how often do
you require partner to lead through,
and are you sure, he will choose the
right Mayor?

What does declarer have? Your lead?

Assuming SA or 2/1 GF, Declarer has either ~12-14 HCP w/o a 4cM or ~15-17 HCP w/o a 4cM.

Ask to see their CC before leading if you want to know. They must tell you if you ask.

a= The auction cries out for a Major suit lead
b= The auction should warn you that They are going to take Their tricks =fast=. This is a bad auction to go passive on. Especially if a 3N response here shows 15-17 HCP.

Since I do not have a standard 3 card sequence to lead vs NT here, I do not see a compelling reason not to make the standard lead of "4th down from my longest and strongest"

♠4 from ♠KQ94 it is.
