IMPS, Opps vulnerable
Pard opens 1, RHO Doubles for take out.

What is your bid holding:
A J x
Q J T 8 x
x
K J x x

Do you bid your hearts? OR Redouble showing 10+ HCP and no Dime fit.

XX seems like a good idea,
at least the vulnerability is right,
not sure if we can get them, but
we can try.

Yeah 1 seems fair. Rdbl will leave you with some problems if it goes

1 (dbl) rbdl (1)
pass

now if opener passes, will 2 be forcing? And if opener raises to 2, will 3 be forcing?

Better just bid 1 and see what happens :P

1, i think it's a bad idea to redouble with a good 5 card suit

Redouble should normally express interest in defending. You have enough that you can probably make game, so you need to set them 2 to beat your game. Down 2 at the 1 level happens, but not very often.

Redouble complicates the auction, and I have no interest in defending 1.

Start with 1 and see where things go.

While I agree with the consent, that it seldom pays to look
for a penalty and that one should bid his own hand,
I also believe, that one should allow oneself to get lucky,
... and they stepped in at the wrong moment.
I agree, we have most likely game our way (3NT or 4H),
but then hearts wont break, and game will me not be
fool proof, because we know, that partner will have a min
opener, i.e. I may risk 400 getting only 200, (-200 is not the
end of the world), but I may also get 500 instead of going
down / not reaching game.

With kind regards
Marlowe

PS: I am pretty certain, I can control the auction, I may be wrong.

1H is clear, I would never redouble with a 5-card major.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I like XX at these colors. I'm willing to double hearts and clubs and they could be in huge trouble. My spades are good enough to think the auction won't come back to me at 3S so I can always bid hearts next if I need to.

Yes I agree with everything you say. The opps aren't in 1S yet. Maybe they're going to end in 2C or 1H Xed. If they don't I can bid hearts next and nothing is lost. Sometimes the opps just have a big misfit and we've got them.

Also agree that we can control the auction, so I'm not too worried.

I like redouble. What happens on a good day is the only fit the opponents have is in diamonds, but they have no way to get there since 1 X XX P is not trying to play there, it's expecting partner to run. Like imagine partner is 4243 and the opponents will probably get to either a major in a 6 card fit, or maybe scramble to 2. This could be a bloodbath.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Redouble. I can kill hearts or clubs and if partner has 4 they are dead.

1H for me. I don't like the omnibus XX at all with this hand.
