I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

Regardless of what your opening lead agreements are.
If giving a count signal the second time the suit is played (or when playing a card from the opening lead suit as a discard)
Do you
1) give a count signal that shows how many cards you originally held in the suit,

2) give a count signal that shows your current count or remaining count in the suit?

3) do something else?

Please assume not playing some conventional carding agreement such as Smith or Foster echoes, etc. etc.
Please assume that carding priorities are attitude>count>suit preference.

I will be very interested to see what the responses to this question will be.

as always, TIA

My partners have agreed that if you have already started a count signal in a suit that your second card is completes the signal and gives suit preference.

i.e. Partner leads trump and declarer plays 1 round of clubs. Holding 983 of c I play the 9 (udca, top of equals)on the first round. if declarer then pulls trump and I have a pitch i can finish showing three clubs by pitching either the 8 or 3 of c, BUT the 8 asks for higher side suit and 3 lower side suit.

If you haven't already given a count signal then we discard UDCA count starting with second discard. (our first discard is attitude)

So playing against NT you lead a c and I want to signal my diamond count on my second discard and diamonds have never been played, then from 10683 I play the 3, udca.

I am interested in how others do this.

Playing UDCA I give original count if I give count the 2nd time a suit is played. This works best on most suit lengths.

Playing standard count I give count from remaining lenght. For the same reason.

This means I play the same card the 2nd time the suit is lead, whether playing UDCA or standard.

Discarding, 1st discard is attitude, later discards count. Same principiple apply as above if I make two or more discards in the same suit.
Kind regards,
Harald
