I've seen a number of people using the popular IMHO in the Forums. Which one do you use: humble or honest?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Supposed to be "humble" I think, but that always sounds a bit false to me so I use "IMO" instead.

I've always heard it expanded to "In My Humble Opinion"

Please note: This expression dates back to the early days of the Internet. I remember it being used on Internet news groups in the late 80s. Back in the day, everyone knew that this expression was half-serious / half joking. The expression "humble" is not meant to be taken seriously. Rather, its an example of self deprecating humor and a comment about the sze of the egos involved in some of the discussions that crop up on the Internet.

Hi,

of course the poll is "silly", but I think "humble".
I seem to recall that there was a negative touch to it,
because it says something, I know everything, the others
nothing (I am missing the english word for "hochmütig" /
"eingebildet"), which could get increased by IMVHO
(very humple), but i am not 100% sure.

With kind regards
Marlowe

The literal translation I always thought to mean "In My Humble Opinion", but the message really means "In My not so Humble Opinion". Just as, when you say "but with respect" you actually mean "without respect", and when you say "with the greatest respect" you actually mean "with extreme disrespect".

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
