2N is ostensibly for minors right? So when partner picks diamonds, you will correct to hearts?

Or does 2N just show 2 places to play?

2N shows 2 places to play.

Usually there is no difference to responder as he will typically bid his best minor, but I did have this shape recently on this auction... 1354. My partner bid 2N and i bid 3 clubs catering to partner having hearts/clubs. He did have those suits and clubs was much better than hearts. So basically if you prefer diamonds over clubs but clubs over hearts you should bid clubs.

Ah, thanks for the explanation.

Would be the same in balancing seat? For some reason, in the balancing seat, if you had hearts, it just strikes me that a double would be a general takeout, and 2N would deny hearts. Kind of a gut instinct, haven't really thought about it.
