As we have been deveoping our system there are fewer and fewer times where we need 2NT to be natural in competion.

I was looking at having a nice, simple, rule to go by along the lines of '2NT is never natural, and always forcing, if oponents open a suit.'

The only times I think that this might be useful to break is on simple auctions such as:

(1S) - 2C - (P) - 2NT

Most of the times we are changing 2NT to Lebensohl and I can really see the advantage of having the opertunity to show 2 types of hand at the 3 level.

Do you think we would be giving up too much losing the natural 2NT in some situations such as that above or would it be better to have the rule as per the second paragraph?

If it changes things we are playing a 2/1 system.

An option that would let you keep you "2NT is never natural" meta-rule would be to play that both 2NT and 2S show raises of clubs in this sequence. You could separate one to be three cards, one four, else one showing a stop and one denying a stop.

I'm not saying this is a better treatment than a natural 2NT in this sequence but it keeps you rule intact.
