Hello...requesting input on what advancer should do in following auction....

4S - X - P - ?

My partner and I were sitting in direct and advancer seat. Our hands were as follows. Opponents 3S bid was alerted as preemptive.

H Q J 10 x
D A Q 10 x x x
C A

My hand :
S K
H K
D xx
C Q J 10 9 8 7 6 x x

Would appreciate any input and explanation....thx

I would bid 5C. I am not going to let them declare when I have a 9 card suit. Incidentally, I would have bid 5C initially if pd would NOT interpret this as fit showing.

I agree. I would bid 5C the first time this has a two point effect.
1) you have a 9 card suit, you only want to play in that suit you have no defense.
2) you dont give the opps an opportunity to bid anythin at the four level making their decision much harder.
Just my 2 cents on this

I agree, I don't get 9 card suits too often. And making life hard for opps is sometimes very fun thing in bridge. And it is hard to see actually who is going to save, so you might as well beat them to it. :P
