If I must open, it's 10-12NT. 2♦ second choice but it doesn't appeal too much since majors are really easy to find still and my suit is horrible.

I do not like 1♦ (lead directing ?) and since 2♦ is not available, it is either 3♦ pr PAss. I have found that 3♦ works more often that it should (and since by agreement it can be almost anything partner will not rush to lead diamond). Think it is a close call , will go with the field and pass if not the right time for swingy action (doing very well or just not the right momentum)

2♦. I like partner to be able to bid sensibly opposite a 3rd-hand opening at the one-level, so my openings aren't very different from in first seat. Two-bids are different.

I mentioned in another thread that many in this Forum open the bidding anytime they hold 13 cards.
This is another case in point.

There's better examples than this. We are 3rd chair green, so that gives a license.
It's funny, I was reading this, and I saw pleighton's comment and I thought this was really old LOL.
I still pass by the way, but my reason is that I think there is a reasonable chance this will get passed out, and bidding just makes it easy for them to bid their majors.
2♦ is a 2nd choice, not 1♦, but 2♦ randomizes the results.

I would open 2♦. I am just not going to sit there and let the opps have all the space they need when they hold the majors. Ok... so partner was 5-5-1-2 with a bad hand. Next.
