Almost anything could be right.

I think I would bid 3NT, although it's an overbid. It's IMPs, and I have a feeling I will either make 1 or 3.

3H is possible, though the suit's not up to snuff. Change the 8 to the 10 and this would be my bid.

I don't like 2S, as pd has denied 4, and may think I have 5 for my bid.

I won't bid 2H or pass with an 11 count at IMPs.

I voted for 2♠, but it is an overbid. After a long thought I will bid 3♥. I would really like to bid 2♠ as it shows distribution and values, but game is inevitable. It is very sad that after 2♠ I would know in great precision whether to make game or not, but I would be unable to place the contract. Partner will make a reasonable judgement after 3♥, but I am worried that he will downgrade his hand too much, if he is short of hearts. It is possible to invent a suit and bid 2♦, but how low do I have to bend?

2S puts partner in the catbird seat: any contract he suggests now is accepted. However, I, too have no non-GF after resp reverse--how about leben-like 2NT?

I'm in doubt between 2S (overbid) and 3H (non-descript value-bid). I think I'd bid 2S.

Playing Cherdano's NSI (where 2D is a drop in hearts or any invitational hand) this hand would be easy:

1C-1H
2C-2D
2H-2S
.. - 3H showing an invitational hand with 6 hearts and 4 spades.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I would bid 2S, but I don't play this as game forcing. I have an invitational hand with hearts and spades, as this shows. I shall pass any sign-off by partner (2NT/3C/3H).

Second choice pass.

Could you elaborate on this? Do you just bid 2D with all GF hands and leave 2S as natural with invitational values? Seems like that could work.

I'm not sure what is standard here.

3H, what else?

If 2H shows inv. values, a possible option, in case
you play weak jump shifts, the hand would be perfect,
but in this case, you would not have posted the hand
as a problem.

I was reading this in the movie theatre today, so I've had about 4 hours to think about it.

I think Pass, 2♥, 2♠, 2N, and 3♥ all have something going for them. One at a time, worst to first.

2♠ (2) - I play a reverse by responder as a game force, and I can't see doing this on this potential misfit. I rate this as only slightly better than the maniacal 3N.

3♥ (4) - Many of you will disagree with this, but I think 3♥ caters to one type of hand; a specific maximum like: x, Kx, Axxx, AKxxxx with a doubleton heart. It makes 3N very tough to achieve, and preempts us. It also overstates the quality of the heart suit.

Pass (5) - If we don't have a game, clubs rates to be as good as any place, and this keep us low. But its also a deep position, since its barely possible pard has 3 hearts.

2N (6) - Right on values, protects the ♦Q and ♠Q. Also doesn't overemphasize the heart suit. 2N also allows pard to retreat to 3♣. Problem is we don't have a source of tricks, and its hard seeing 9 tricks on power.

And my choice: 2♥ (8) . I assume we play WJS, so this doesn't show a bust. As others have indicated, bidding past 2♣ tends to show some constructive values anyway, or a real long heart suit.

If one is used to p opening in first vul on:
xx...xx....KTxx...AKQTx

then 2H is more than enough to rebid.

Typical problem hand for responder when p opens lite.
