For sake of this post please assume
1major=1nt
2nt=17=18 and natural. What is the best way to handle responders rebids?
How light can 1nt be in your style? assume you must go through 1nt with a long weak/or invite minor.
Also assume 1nt=14-16 in first and second seat and 15-17 in third or 4 th seat.
Assume 2d opening shows 18-19 balanced.
This means the 17-18 nt rebid by opener may have some flaw. Hope this all makes sense. Thank you in advance.

Seems like transfers are probably the way to go, especially if you're using a wide-ranging forcing 1NT response. This lets you sign off in any suit but clubs, and try for slam in any suit, and offer a choice of contracts with some extreme two-suiter in a sensible way.
If 1NT didn't include "invitational one-suiters" or "invitational major suit raises" then you have a lot less need to look for slam in this sequence (17-18 balanced opposite 5-9 or whatever doesn't make that many slams) and you could consider simply playing most rebids as natural and not forcing (regaining the club sign-off).

I use transfers, and highly recommend them

Thanks for replies so far. Correct assume 1nt is a very wide ranging bid.
Any suggested tfr system given the constraints in this post?

Over 1S you can transfer to diamonds or hearts and then bid spades showing length in that suit plus Hx. You can get to the right game (2n bidder could have 6 spades) and even perfecta slams this way. With a red 2 suiter you can transfer to diamonds and then bid hearts. With weak in a red suit you can transfer and pass. With a very weak spade raise or a slam try you can transfer to spades then pass or bid. With a 3334 type of hand you can offer a choice of games with a transfer and pass...etc.
Over hearts things are similar except bidding 3S shows the minors.
