I'll try the corresponding ♥ too. It's possible pard has an entry in spades/diamonds in order to play a 2nd heart through declarer.

♦9 could be the winner, though (inducing a declarer misguess from KJx).

I tend to lead my longest suit on this sort of auction, so the systemic heart.
Second, very close, choice a spade.

I do remember a lot of boards where I tried something fancy and sometimes it works. But too seldom, so I lead from my strongest suit. Would like to lead the ten if I have the agreement, else the Jack.

Actually, now I think a bit harder about it, I want to know much more about our, and our opponents methods. I will stick with a heart on the auction 2H x P 3NT, but this is a different auction.

1. What would a double of 2D by LHO have meant?
2. How aggressive are our 1st NV multis?

1. Playing against me, LHO's pass-then-double sequence shows a very pure take-out of hearts (typically a 4144 13-count); a balanced(ish) hand such as a 4234 opening hand with two low hearts would have doubled 2D ("Dixon"). If oppo have those agreements then dummy is marked with a singleton or void heart, and the 'dream' 6322 layout round the table is less likely and a spade is more tempting. (I'm very happy leading a heart if declarer might have KQx and partner a doubleton: declarer will need to duck this which gains us a tempo).

But if they are playing some other type of methods and dummy may be more balanced, a heart is much more tempting.

2. What's the chance partner has 3 low hearts or Hx? I deliberately play the multi as a 'revolting' weak two 1st NV, and partner pretty much needs to have four cards to raise (i.e., bid 2S). Some sound weak two-ers consider three low or Hx a pretty mandatory raise: I've seen something like Qx xxx Jxxx Kxxx called a 3H response to a multi at this vul. If partner has pretty much denied a holding this good, a spade is again suggested.

I had the same pattern of thought regarding the multi as you did, Frances, but not until several hours after the event! On the other hand, at least the nightmare layout of Kxx/Qxx in oppos hands has been ruled out! I didn't ask at the time, but doubler has a flat 12 count with 4-2 in the majors.

Our multis promise a 6 card suit, but other than that the hand has to be pretty disgusting before I wouldn't open it in this position.

There was another slight inference from (a disadvantage of) using a multi - There are hands that will preempt with 3♥ over a multi that will pass a weak 2♥. This is because, playing a multi, 2nd seat is getting another bid whether you 'further the preempt' or not.

no sorry, I tried to say that I tried to lead another suit like spades in cases like this and that was not successful. So I come back to lead the right card from my longest suit again. I would never think about anything but a small honour to be lead in hearts.
