K KJxx AQxxxx Qx
1d-(1s)-1nt-(3d)*
*mixed raise
What now?
If you pass or double, it goes 3♠pp back to you. What then?
Does vulnerability/scoring (deliberately omitted) matter?

Double is attractive, since it gives pard a chance to hit 3♠.
I'll now try a sneaky 3N.

Interesting.......3N 5D and DBL are all in play.......
at imps, vul vs not I would be tempted to try 5D
at mp I am going for a plus with dbl.
3NT depends on how lucky I feel as pard with Qxx in S and with the DK offside....ouch I might even try 4D as an invite....you never know when they will keep on bidding...

Funny funny deck.. I have 15 partner made a free bid of 1NT, so we can figure on a solid 8 at a minimum (does not promise a spade stopper, but without one, he will have more hcp). RHO shows a mixed raise (offensive and DEFENSIVE) so his heart queen is dead, and he lacked the other side queen... I wonder what other defensive value he has (aces are both)... maybe a minor suit king. But that pegs him with around 10 points as well (at a minimum). So the overcall? Well it was weak, weak weak, but not a preemptive jump overcall. Hmm...
If it was matchpoints (I don't care what the vulnerability), I would hit 3♠. Partner lacks 4♥, has three or 4♠'s, and choose not to raise diamonds, so probably lacks 4 of those.
At imps, I would not double 3♠ if partner did not. However, I would bid 3NT. I think this double then bid 3NT express some doubt about strain, and partner did hear the 3♦ bid, so I hope partner without a spade stop will pull.
So to sum it up, I would double first. At MP, I would hit 3♠ because I think it is going down more often than it is making (and I think we can make 3♦), at imps, I would not double as they will make too often to make that the correct strategy, I would give a run at 3NT and hope for the best. I would not bid 3NT at matchpoints, becasue I think that is going down more often than it is making.

I like 3NT as well. Caters to someone farting around.
"Champions aren't made in gyms, champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. " - M. Ali

a huge difference between opener's dbl or pass RHO 3♦.
i tend to dbl THIS 3♦ with
x
KJ9x
AQxxxx
Qx
With this hand,i can make 4♦ with partner's ♥Q&♦K&♠A.
and i consider this DBL (to 3♦) force partner choose a choice before opps3♠,further more,it's semi-forcing to pd under 3NT.
but,apparently,pass-3♦ show an more flat hand.
the difficulty is - - this is really a poor hand for me to show a semi-forcing to pd.
but, when i decide dbl-3♦ , my pd's passing become encouraging my 4♦ competition---- if i have 6cards ♦ as i holding now.
if i hold a hand which has 75%defencing-high-card points(like: 3Ace and 3jack),i will give a DBL to 3♠ in spite of 6cards ♦,but now,i will recreant to bid 4♦.
by the way, if i DBL 3♦ and pd pass 3♠,i can accurately count my pd have 6cards majors (3-3)and 7cards minors(3-4),and ♠ ace!

I would surely double, because this shows good diamonds and I have them.
I believe, that pd has a spade stopper and a fair hand for his 1 NT bid, so I try 3 NT which should have some play or a running partner if he did something fancy.

3NT is clear IMO. Was wondering how many would do something else.
Clear to me as well and should be a favorite to make, IMHO.
