Scoring: IMP

ps-(ps)-2-(3)
?

I was wondering whether to bid 4 at table. partner's 3rd seat preempt may be wide range, but won't be crazy at both vul.
What would you bid?

Pass.

Pd will have six spade winners and the ace of hearts to start. Where are the other three tricks coming from?

Pass and pass again over 4H.

I have to assume that I'll be doubled going for 500 or even 800.

and

They are not in 4H yet

and

When it's only 500 I might have some chances in defence against 4H if spades split.

I'd boost to 3S opposite the partner you described.

Id pass. 3♠ gives them a takeout oriented double, which they may use to get us for 500 or find their club fit. Perhaps we might make 3s if partner has a good hand, but then again that's why its better to open such hands.

At table, my first feeling was that they would have game somewhere, so i jumped to 4 to make them guess. In retrospect, i feel this thinking is too unilateral. Blasting to 4 at such vul only gives them another option, double. It will almost surely cost us 500, and partner's 2 already make them difficult to find the right strain.
So, maybe the right choice is pass or bid 3.
