Scoring: MP

(1D)=P=(1S)=?

I plan on posting some of my late night problem hands. I hope the discussion will help other improving players with some common problem hands.

These are hands for the newer player that I found tough at the table. I am told by many good players these hands should be pretty easy for us but I find them tough. I hope others find them fun and instructive. If so I will post more.

I play 1NT here as natural by unpassed hand. That's my call.
"Champions aren't made in gyms, champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. " - M. Ali

i pass. 1s should be forcing. if lefty passes, p should have enough sense to reopen based on the psych.

at red/red matchpoints it might be right to operate with a pass, hoping LHO will bid 1N. red/red you always want to defend 1N rather than play it. There's a chance we have a game and a chance that LHO will raise spades putting us in an awkward spot in the passout seat. hmm.......

I think I will pass and X if LHO bids 2S... lol. Not reccomended :(

Easy pass for me. If LHO bids 1NT, I'll let it die there. If LHO bids 2 and it gets passed to me, I might toy around with balancing 3.

If you play that a direct 2 is natural as I do when they've bid both suits then that comes under consideration. However, I'd like to have a bit better suit since I will be Xed when Red if 2 is wrong.

If you play 1N as natural then that comes under consideration, but I really don't care for my stop and at MP's when both are Red it can be better to defend 1NT than to play it, and once again if 1NT is wrong I am in trouble.

I'd rate as follows:

Pass 50
1NT 40
2 10

So a reluctant pass, but I won't criticize a natural 1NT at all.
