A friend has been playing with us on BBO and every 20 mins they are red-dotted then disconnected.

Does the BBO server poll the modems at all or is it likely to be a setting on the PC itself

This problem is most likely caused by wrong network settings,
especially when a DSL connection is involved. Please give some
details about the type of connection and the operating system,
I will then give you some pointers (links) to newsgroups articles
dealing with that problem. If you like, you may visit

Since you seem to know something about this...

I have a husband/wife pair who use a cable modem and a router to share connection.

When they both are online, both are extremely slow. Not nearly as bad when only one is using the connection. They keep asking me for help and I really don't know what to tell them.

The only other thing I know is that they use a firewall as well as the router. Don't know if this is affecting anything.

Any help would be appreciated.
