Scoring: IMP

(1♣) 1nt(15-17) (X) ?

Usually I would just pass with this garbage, after RHO double, do you pass or bid 2♣ stayman hoping for a ♥ fit?

I tend to take my medicine here... partner usually runs with a 5 card suit himself anyways (or may XX if he has 2 4 card suits outside of clubs).

I assume X is for penalty. Therefore 2C is now not Stayman Katherine, but a suit. I bid 2C and after the expected X I will XX for rescue.

'systems on after opps X' does not apply in these auctions, only direct 1nt (X) ?

Depends on agreements I suppose. We play that the opps generally know what they are doing and therefore bids by us are escapes.

Pass. This may not play well, but the chance that a red suit contract plays better with those moth-eaten suits is even lower.. lol.

If the club queen were in one of my long suits I might run - but with 2/3 of my HCP probably of value only at a NT contract, I pass.
