Do you agree with the double? Icouldnt see how I could create a forcing auction and show my ♠'s and ♥'s other than with a double to start. (edit: its an indy but Im also interested in how you would bid this in a p/ship)

Would you bid again after 5♠?

If you play Michaels you might start with 3D to show both majors, then you can cuebid 4C when partner bids a major and try and get a 4D cue out of him. You don't need much at all to make a slam, basically just a diamond control.

After a freebid of 3S from partner, I would jump to 5S to show a very strong slam going hand with no diamond control (if you had a diamond control you would bid 5D).

After partners 5S bid in the auction given, I would bid 6. To bid 5 over 5 partner is very unlikely to have 2 diamond losers.

Hi,

in an indy, dbl is fine, if he bids clubs,
you can always bid 4H.

In aregular partnership, the 3D Michaels
Cue is certainly a lot better.

Should you bid 6S over 5S in the given auction?

That depends on a large degree on how trustworthy
the opponents are.
If you are leading, you should pass, you may miss
the slam, but at least you have 650.

After the opponenets have bid ♦ to the 5 level you can count or alteast hope for a shortness diamond in partner's hand and bid the slam.

Not disagreeing with anything said so far, I would add:

After 2D-X-3D, it seems to me that your partner might bid 4S. That looks like a lot of tricks in his hand. If your rho passes (he bid 4D over 3S but may or may not bid 5D over 4S) you might well bid 5S and partner will bid 6.

If your rho in fact bids 5D over your partner's 4S you have something of a problem. It's unusual to open 2D and then go on to 5D with only partner's single raise as encouragement. It seems to me that after your partner's jump to 4S a pass over 5D would be forcing and you may decide that if partner doubles he has two losers in diamonds so you pull to 5S, if he bids 5S he has only one diamond and so you bid 6S. A bit subtle for an indy but it seems right, or at least plausible, in a practiced partnership.

How about South bid 5S over North's 3S? Although it's not very clear what South was worrying (trump or diamond), it's most likely South was asking about diamond. Other wise South could cue-bid 4D or SD.
