I think this restates the obvious, and agrees with your implication, but if you ask each table, at least one person will find themselves to be WC or Expert.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

“According to an evening paper, there are only five real authorities on bridge in this country. Odd how often one gets one of them as a partner.” Punch (British magazine)

This proves once more that self ratings are almost worthless. If you are looking for a pickup partner on BBO it would ba much better to have a real rating system (or let pears rate you) even considering all disadvantages of real rating systems.

Something is clearly wrong with this data if Turkey came in 11th. We all know that at least 90% of Turkish players are experts.

Self ratings are pretty useless in some degree (ofcourse lots of people don't know their real skill level or put novice on purpose), but at least it doesn't promote cheating and discrimination of good placed players opposite poor placed players, which is the downside of a real rating system...

I rate myself as advanced, quite often I am expert, less often I am intermediate.

I have found that people that rate themselves as advanced or intermediate are actually quite often better than the average "expert". Many of the "experts" are only after good results and leave as soon as a bad one occurs as it is clearly their partner's fault ;) .

The fact is we don't want a rating system based on results, we have seen what crap comes from that. People won't play with friends for a few fun hands unless using another account etc.

Ben (Inquiry) did some stats a year or two ago about the %s of ratings on here, but I am not going to search through his posts to find it, it would take hours. From memory he sort of agreed with me, that advanced and below are the most accurate unless they have a * next to their name.
