I have probably been inattentive, but why is it that we don't have the BPO any more? Whatever the reason is, would it not be a good idea to get it back?

(Sorry, I don't have time to be the moderator if that's an issue).

I'd be happy to be the moderator, if that is an issue :P

I think there was also the question,
who collects the votes.
The first BPO got killed, since people
complained about lots of things in
private to Elianna, who did this.

I am not really suitable for trustworthy
tasks, I always gets those, wondering
how it did happen, pitty the poor souls
in my company, who rely on those task.

But if there was a group, sharing this
task, I would be willing to join this group.

With kind regards
Marlowe

PS: I think it would also be an good idea, if
there were a group of moderators.
With kind regards
Uwe Gebhardt (P_Marlowe)

I'd be willing to moderate a set too, if not help with gathering the votes and comments.

I've actually got a pretty good rolodex of players now

I’d be happy to help collect and tally members votes etc or anything else that doesn’t require premium bidding knowledge

It wasn't really private. They made complaints about how I should do something one way, I informed them that I already did, and gave them links, and they said that they were too busy to read those.

That was just the final straw.

Pigpenz took over the tabulating of scores (not the assigning of points, but the adding them up and recording for everyone). I don't know if he (she?) still wants to, but whoever is in charge may want to ask him (her?) in case he (she?) still would like to be involved, so that he (she?) doesn't feel left out.

moderating, in the sense of writing up the results and integrating the panel's comments, is the easy bit.

The pain in the neck is collecting everyone's answers and working out what they scored. I'm not volunteering either, because I also don't have time.

Maybe some computer-geek-like person could write a web page to collect votes, put them in a database, mark them as 'reader' or 'panellist' and then tabulate the answers so it's all automatic apart from the one skilled job of assigning marks and making sense of the panellists comments.

I'm not volunteering to to that, because I still don't have time (and you wouldn't want to use any HTML I wrote, trust me on this).

I have an excel file that adds up people's scores, and am more than willing to share that with the next scorer.

It wasn't too hard putting people's answers in that file (they would email or private message me), when they followed the requested formatting. Of course, only 2/3 of people did, but that was ok, too because this only amounted to ten or so people.

Adding up how many people gave each answer to each question was a little more annoying, and I would end up doing that by hand (it was easier than writing a program to do that).

anyone who wants to can take over for me, if no one is interested I/me can still do it...it really only takes about 30 minutes per poll and one piece of paper.

I have been volunteered/drafted to be the moderator. I am probably going to be creating my own hands, using (old) magazine examples, perhaps slightly modified. But I am open to any submissions anyone has: my email for this is mhargreaves@jonesemery.com.

Please, no more than 2 or 3 hands from any one person :) B) :D :)

I cannot promise a deadline, but I will try to post the problems, and send to the 'panelists', within a couple of weeks. I will be going to the Hawaii Nationals (my first road trip to an ACBL tournament in years) so doubt that the answers will materialize until I get back.

It is time, and past time. Mea culpa: the result of my taking a short vacation and having too much work has been that I am now inundated. However, I have a few hands already chosen and will finish the poll selection this weekend. I will then seek Ben's help in sending the poll to the panel and will then post the problem set on the forum.

I would suggest a new panel (well upgrades to the panel)....

Luis was great on the panel, but he isn't posting here anymore.. and several of the people I added (to try to trick them into coming to the site and posting..hehehehe) only sent in their answers but never show up.

So I think if it is going to restarted, we might need to seek out new blood... ;)

Well, I overcame my tendency to procrastination and have sent Ben a set of hands. I gather that Ben may have some difficulty getting a panel together but I will post the hands here once he has done so and the panel has had some time to answer.

poll sent to the panelist not sure if all will respond, we need a few more. Also, Don won the last contest (double !) so he gets to share his views on this set with us as well.
