You need north to have five diamonds.. and south to have the club ACE. That starts the hand, but you need two discards from WEST on 's so north also needs J9x of clubs or similar.

Win diamond ace and run club ten if not covered.

Yes, at trick 2 is quite obligated imo, since opps don't know enough to plan the best possible defense. Running the T will probably be more efficient than taking over, but I'm not sure. Against weak players you're always going down, against good ones you might get away with this slam :)
