How do you get in touch with a player who is online but not in the lobby or any play rooms. (when you look for him by username he is shown just online).

A typical application is when you go through finding a partner for a tournament, you invite someon and he accepts your invitation and now you would like to contact him to discuss conventions.

I have not found a way to do this. Does anybody have a suggestion?

It seems that it should be possible.

A BBO friend of mine was invited into a tournament and accepted. She was unable to find the person in the lobby either so we assumed the person was invisible. Aside from the fact that she was unable to discuss systems she was left in the lurch as this person logged off before the tourney and never came back. A minor problem to be sure - but still a problem.

type in the recepients name into the first field (labeled: CHAT TO. Type over The Lobby or whatever)
Type & chat as usual

The ability to type in a username here is a newish thing that Fred added in the most recent version.

So will he (the receipient) receive the chat message if he is online but invisible?

I tried that (typing his name direct in chat message) before when I want to chat someone whom I was unsure if he was online. He is usually invisible when he is online. I received xxx is currently not online or invisible.




BTW just tried to login invisible. Chat to myself (typing my name direct in chat window), receive the message as recipient, and receive no "xxxx is currently not online or invisible" as sender.

This is intentional.

The idea is that, if someone logs in as invisible, he/she does not want other people to know he/she is online.

If an invisible user joins a table as a player, he/she becomes visible to everyone.

If an invisible user joins a table as a kibitzer, he/she becomes visible to everyone at the table (except yellow users and except vugraph tables).
