In theory, the BBO money bridge tables could be used as a mechanism for teachers to charge students for lessons... In theory, if you are a significantly better player than your student a long session of money bridge should result in a net transfer from the student to the teacher.

Needless to say, the rub of the green and table fees will have some impact. With this said and done, if the "teacher" wasn't willing to accept these terms it might be a powerful signal regarding his skill level.

It would be nice if I had the opportunity to try BBO money bridge. Uday says BBO thinks it is illegal for me Even though I live in West Virginia where it is legal, my cable company serves Maryland and West Virginia and the money bridge is illegal in Maryland.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Uday did not have any solution when I spoke with him in the lobby of BBO.

Yesterday a very good friend and real expert +++ player was playing moneybridge. He suggested that he would like me to kibitz him, it cannot result in suspicion of cheating in any form because he would only accept a kib whom he 100% trusts, and the kib can only see his cards (btw: I would never cheat, but I know that this is an invalid argument). And private chat to the player could be disabled by default (which is no real instrument in times of messengers, voice over IP and telefone ) I really would like to kib him, is or will that be possible?

I was playing money when a student of mine came online which got me the same idea, but i think this is not a good idea, money table is not were you can teach or learn, its the wrong atmosphire.

I disagree on this, but perhaps the skill level of the student is of importance.
Why I disagree is the following:
since the player / teacher is interested not to loose money because it really hurts, he will not jeopardize his contracts by doubtful decisions but take only calculated risks. Especially this strategically point is interesting for me.
A second point is how the player "communicates" with his robot partner. Also here the player must give the best possible information and no creative (torture) bids to a machine when he wants to avoid loosing money, the GIB will not discuss postmortem.
If one can talk of "atmosphere" while watching someone on the PC? It is not the kib's money, so he can be relaxed, sitting homey in his own room with a cup of coffee and some sweets. Perhaps it is stressful for the player in case he looses...

My lesson is not about being perfect making no mistakes, the lesson is were you want to see the mistakes so you can correct it.
The lesson is not were you want someone to be strested up, not the student but also but the teacher, when i teach i make mistakes, and i share them with my student, for his/her benefit.
The time factor at money table isnt a good thing for a lesson.
The Gib as a partner is also a problem since his play isnt human, not his good parts and not his bad parts, its many times lack a normal plan we make, therefore hard to explained by the teacher.
The money factor is problematic, yes for the long run a better player will win more for his lessons, but
1. a better player isnt necacarly a better teacher.
2. The student will always reffer to the match result as to how he and the teacher did, while this might be true for the long run, it says almost nothing on the short run, and will make him misread the teahcer's and his preformence.
3. It will cause some fack lessons, where an expert enter a lesson as a rookeyinorder to full his teahcer and take money.

Ouch.. Ok.. one of mine was deleted. But for the record, what I posted was how someone playing in west virginia (fifee) could legally get connected and play while in west virginia and avoid the problem that exist with the described cable service . :-(

One of the suggestions, I suspect, could have been used by others in banned states as well. However, I will not repeat the two suggestions that were clearly local solutions. Besides, I don't want fifee on taking my money from me anyway.

I am naive, or? *blush* A cheater trusts himself also 100% when kibbing from a 2. PC...
I have no criminal energy, therefore didn't see what could be possible. Sorry for that stupid suggestion....
