Hi!
We open 2 with + ?, 5-5+, 6-10.
Responder:
    (no "pass or correct" bids):
  • 2 with tolerance for
  • 2NT --> asking, does not want to play , might be weak or strong
  • 3 is nat, nonforcing
  • 3 is an invitation in

  • 3 is GF, nat.
That is all that has been discussed so far.
Now the questions:
1.) Will the hand most often be played in 1 of the 2 suits because it might be worthless elsewhere? With what kind of hand does responder introduce an own suit and how does opener react?
2.) What does 2NT followed by 3 show? Is it perhaps a cuebid for investigating a slam? The weak hand will bid 2 and rebid 3, or?
3.) How does responder investigate slam in ? Via 3 (I like that because responder will learn about min./max., and opener is sure of the trumpsuit) or 2NT?
4.) What does responder want to hear from opener here: 2 (p) 2NT (p) // 3 (p) 4? Cuebid (then also 2. round control with a singleton?) or keycards?

5.) What is your general opinion about opening weak 2-suiters?

Thx ;)

I Play Muiderberg, where 2 shows 5card and 4+m.
In my opinion it seems better then playing 2 is 5card and 5card other (including ).
2-(P)-P-(DBL)
P-(P)-??
With a lot of weak hands it will be difficult to know if there is a better spot. Eg you have a weak hand: xxxxx-x-xxxx-xx or xx-x-xxxxx-xxxxx
You have the same issue with Muiderberg where you don't know what minor your partner has (and it can be only 4card iso 5card as in your opening), but to a less extent.
And 5-5 Major hand can more easily be shown later in the bidding.
Also when opening 5-5 hand with 2 and partner has around 10-12 pts and fit it will be difficult to find a possible game in

Most of the time yes, the big exception is when responder has a 1-suited hand in the other major.

2.) What does 2NT followed by 3♠ show? Is it perhaps a cuebid for investigating a ♥ slam? The weak ♠ hand will bid 2♠ and rebid 3♠, or?

A control asking bid. When you have preempted you are not cuebidding, you are responding to CABs.

3.) How does responder investigate slam in ♥? Via 2♦ (I like that because responder will learn about min./max., and opener is sure of the trumpsuit) or 2NT?

You must mean 3. You can do both, depends on the hand. If you want to know if partner is min/max, then via 3, if you want to know what partner's suit is, via 2NT.

Since your league partner is a "Bid Blackwood whenever possible" kind of guy I think he wants to hear Key Cards ;) On this auction a new suit (3 and 4) would be a CAB.

If you play them like this, not vulnerable you should play them 5+4+, vulnerable 5+5+.

If you want to stick to 5+5+ (there are some good theoretical reasons why you would want this) I prefer natural weak two bids and Wilkosz (and I know it was allowed where you where the questions came up - hehe) over Multi and 2-suiters. This way you maximize the number of times you bid your suit naturally as a weak two comes up more often than a 5+5+ 2-suiter.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do!
