LHO open weak 1NT (12-14) and your partner doubles, showing 14+ and probably balanced (you also play multi landy). RHO passes, you don't know what it is, but expect some run out sequence or a REDBL by LHO. It doesn't seem to be a good idea to ask what it is.

2. We use DONT runouts here after the redouble is converted. I suppose you would try 2♣ and pass partner's response.

Otherwise, start counting up..... +560 + 200, +400, +600.

It's a pretty common expert treatment to run right away on terrible hands. It makes you a lot harder to catch than if you wait before running. In fact I generally make the agreement with partner that my pass of his double shows something like a five count or better. So I would bid 2C right away, and obviously redouble if doubled and hope for the best.

(BTW: all bids would be natural
I passed (hoping that LHO would bid a suit) and got a REDBL back to me.
I then did bid 2H and that was doubled. Partner did go to 3D doubled.
...I thought afterwards that it would have been better to bid 2C (iso 2H) and REDBL (SOS) if doubled.
...And then I thought it was maybe better to bid 2C immediatly and REDBL for SOS.
Anyway 2C followed by REDBL (with or without passing first) seems to be better then 2H.

I bid 2♣ immediately. I don't like pass because my partner will think I have something which I don't.
1NTX always gives a bad score imo with this hand.
There's a good chance we have a good fit somewhere that can give us +110, so why go for an almost certain -180?
If we're unable to score +110, we probably got saved from a 1NTX+2(or more)...
