1♥ - p - 1NT - p
2♥ - p - ?

As I read this forum I should say 2NT with this hand (we play 3♣♦ as weak here).
My idea was that 2♠ is forsing and therefore stronger then 2NT non-forsing. Is this completly dumb?

I would make a game try: 2N [3N is quite possible still].

2♠ - which I play as a strongish game try in hearts - might have other meanings; it's a matter of choice, and of what fits or doesn't fit in your other agreements over 1♥ opening.

Greetings from sunny Seattle. I'm off on the West Coast visiting friends, but somehow still feel the need to check in on this news forums. (IE, all the firends are at work and I'm too jet lagegd to explore the city)

As many people note, the bid in question is "impossible". Therefore, this can be assigned any one of a number of different possible conventional meanings. Personally, I am most fond of using this as a shortness ask.

Responder has a maximum strength 1NT response: A 3 card limit raise is possible, as is hand that originally intended to make a game invite in NT which is not planning to invite in Hearts.

Responder is hoping to find a stiff opposite an empty 3-4 card suit.
