What does this ACBL restriction in tourneys mean? If a player that I have identified as an enemy is playing, I can not, or I won't meet him/her, or what?

It means only that the tourney host has chosen to disallow participation by people on his enemy list.

Other possiblities:

include friends ( only allow friends to register)
include custom list ( only allow users on a host-supplied list to register)
exclude custom list (block registrations from people on a host-supplied list)
private club ( include only members of the host's private club)

When a host creates a tournament listing he or she has several options to place restrictions on who can play. These options are:

• Include only friends of the host
  
• Exclude enemies of host
  
• include player by host language
  
• include players from host country
  
• include player by skill level
  
• include players from a PC file
  
• Exclude players from a PC file
  
• Include only players from host private club

The restriction you meantioned means anyone who is an enemy of the host (who the host has marked using BBO software as an enemy) can not play in the tournament,. You can and may very well meet your own enemies in the tournament, unless of course you are the host!!

Over in the HomeBase Club forum, in a thread about a player who was ruining their pick-up partner's game by doubling every contract the opponents bid, didn't you say that pay tourneys aren't allowed to exclude players? So how can the ACBL tourneys say "No enemies"?

Homebase rules are as I posted them. We are a private club but we don't restrict membership. Our tourneys are open to all players in good standing with the BBO (even non-club members). We do not allow personalities to dictate who can play.

We report boorish behavior and suspected cheaters, etc to BBO Abuse and allow abuse to handle it. If abuse lets them play, they can play. This doesn't put us in the role of cop. If someone is acting very badly and we turn them in to abuse and abuse tells us that for us, we can block them then we might institute such a plan.

ACBL has a zero-tolerance and an appeal process thingee. I assume people blocked have violated their written rules (as instructed by the national ACBL).

Each TD/Club/organization is free to exclude whoever it needs to exclude ,as far as BBO is concerned. Naturally, this doesnt give a TD/Club/Org the right to exclude only martians.

Our ACBL club games are sanctioned by the ACBL and therefore need to be more circumspect about blocking players.
