Yesterday night my partner, also a long-time LM, kept getting the message "This is a Private Tournament" when trying to sign up for the new LM pairs offered on Monday nights. I suspect it's because BBO does not have one or both of our ACBL #s on file, but I don't know how to check that, nor how to make sure they are on file.

I did not get the "This is a Private Tournament" message at any time, but she got it whether I was trying to sign us up or she was doing so.

She tells me that she gets a prompt asking her to verify that her ACBL # is accurate whenever she registers for a tournament. I never get that prompt, and dimly :huh: remember entering my ACBL # some time early on. My online masterpoints are always recorded properly on the ACBL site, but I'm not sure about hers (computers are a bit of a mystery to her).

Any help on how to diagnose the problem and fix it before next Monday would be much appreciated!

When you sign up for an acbl tourney, you are prompted for an acbl number only if we do not have a valid number on file for you

You can view/update your acbl number via this link

http://bridgebase04.bridgebase.com:81/orgp...update_acbl.php

or by logging into bbo then clicking

Lobby->Explore->Tools->ACBL->Update ACBL Number

You can also drop me an email -- uday@ -- with your username and acbl number

Nightly, we run a program that check the numbers we have on file, marking them as valid or not, and flagging whether the number belongs to a life master

So: if you update your number now it will take effect overnight. You can always contact uday@ or gerardo@ if you want it to take effect faster than that

Most likely, your P has given us an incorrect ACBL number. that would explain all her symptoms.

The ACBL games run nightly, IIRC.

Thanks, uday! My ACBL number is recorded correctly, and I've told the lady I was trying to play with how to check her number.

The original posts by Gweny when announcing the Life Master Pairs was that you had to have your ACBL# on file with BBO in order to play in the event.
