easy hand?

I was told this was an easy one, but I got it wrong and thankfully the other table did also. Any feedback welcomed.

don't know how easy it is, but i'd bid 6♠... what to do over 7♥ tho?

Their concept of easyness differs from mine, atleast untill I see the full deal B)

With my partner I would bid 5♥ wich probably should shows very strong 2 suiter with ♠ (we have other similar voices that mean that), with a pick up one I would just play my 4♠

5H followed by 6S. It's the only way I know to let partner know that prime cards in the minors are golden - maybe he'll get it, maybe not.

I don't see how it can be right to take such a deep view as to not force to slam as it takes so little for it to be right.

It would be nice here to play 6H as a transfer to 6S with first round heart control and use 5H as a 2-suiter.

Subscribe to the "one useful card" idea. Unless you have very, very detailed agreements on how to proceed after a 4♥ opening, to bid something other than spades and hope pard will understand, and/or will be able to evaluate his hand correctly, is beyond dreamland. So 6♠ it is.

And yes, I classify this as an "easy problem" :)

A few years ago, Helgemo had a similar hand and a similar problem and just bid 6-something. He was rewarded with a dummy with the expected one useful card (king of trumps). The rest was up to his usual brillance: he made a triple-deep-finesse to land the contract and won that year's Best Declarer Play Award :(

Your 2 loser hand wonders if pard could possibly bid anything but ♦ off a double. You don't need trump support and 5 ♠ (to me) asks about ♥ losers so bid 5 ♥ and when he bids anything other than 5 ♠ bid 6 ♠.
