I picked up this hand this afternoon:

So, wadda ya think? Did I properly apply the rule?

I dislike double or 3♣ but I'd like to hear your thoughts. 3NT made as it turned out but that doesn't make it the right call.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy - but it might improve my bridge.

Would def apply the rule, mainly because in this case it's the ONLY option. 3C in passout seat especially could be way less. X with a diamond void is not for me.

I do not see a lot of alternatives. Like Justin, I hate doubling with the diamonds chicane. 3NT is the most practical bid.

3NT seems the right and only one, only altenatives are penalty double and 4♣ natural if you play them :lol:

Partner is marked with ♥ shortness and did not act on the weak 2 so I will also go for the practical 3NT.
