West has: QJ QJ KTxxx QJxx
East has: AKxx xxx x AKxxx
MP red/red.
South opens 2H, west passes, north passes. What would you balance with with the east hand? At the table east chose 2S.
Now west had a problem. Should he bid 2N on QJ doubleton? 3N on the anemic suit? 3H showing a limit raise or better? 3S an underbid because of the heart values and deficient trump support? At the table west chose to bid 3S. East passed.
So in a way e/w did well to not bid any game with 26 HCP. In fact, 3S is close to making. After south cashes AK of hearts, if he continues another heart declarer can ruff, cash the SQ, cross in clubs and play AK of spades and run clubs. If spades go 4-3, he will make. On the actual play, south cashed AK of spades then quickly led the club 2. Obviously it was a stiff. Declarer now hoped south had 3-6-3-1 with no DA (he had the AK of hearts so couldnt have the DA). He played SQ, overtook the SJ and cashed the SK. If spades were 4-3, he could again run clubs. If north ruffed in he would have to play ace and a diamond for east to pitch his heart. If he pitched the whole time, declarer could lead his 4th spade after running clubs and force a diamond trick. Double dummy the defense could always cash 1 heart, lead a diamond, heart over, and another diamond through but thats really tough. Anyways, spades were 5-2 so this resulted in -200.
So, was this bidding a failure or a success? How would your bidding have gone, and do you strongly disagree with either player's action?

I remember this hand from last night. This hand really shows how Lucky or Great you Texas players are.

My Texas partner bid 3NT and made 3 on a spade lead after this:
P=1D=P=2C
2H=3C=P=3S
P=3NT=P=P
P
He said later, "what the heck else could I bid over 3S"?

My bidding would likelly start:
(2♥)-
pass-3♣
3♥-3♠
3NT-??
Now both pass and 4♣ are possible, I am not sure of wich decision I would take, AK, AK look great for 3NT, but ♥xxx looks like not enough......
