Scoring: BAM
I played 4♥ from the weak side (we play 12-14 NT) and got a spade lead to the Q.
Counting on my LHO to still be in a partial food coma after supper, I immediately place the ♣3 on the table - ducked! Took my pitch, laid down the ♥K and crossruffed for +710
Believe it or not I actually got chided by some good players for playing it this wide open. I can guarantee 5 or 6 by taking my club pitch early and take 4 out of the picture.
My feeling then and I still believe it, is that a weaker team needs to take some adverse views to do well in an event like this. Keeping it in the middle won't win against the world's best, since we can be counted on to make some judgement errors along the way on easier hands.
Of course there is some game theory involved here.
What do you all think?
