Following from my post and question re Kokish structures in my "2 hands from last night" post, I came across this structure over a 2C opening that some might find interesting. It comes from some Josh Sher notes. It is complicated, but very thorough. (2D = waiting, 2H = very negative).
2d = game forcing waiting bid, semi-positive
(3 or fewer controls if balanced or 3-suited)
2c opener's rebids over 2d:
2h= Roman-modified kokish, 2h is relay to 2s, then
2nt=good 24+, bal, system on
3c = 5+ hearts and 4+ of either minor
3d = asks for m, Low/High
over these, 4c,4d = slam interest
3h = likes h’s, slam interest, starts asking bids
3s = good 5+ cd spade suit
4h =signoff
3d = 6+ hearts
3h = like h’s, slam interest, starts asking bids
3s = good 5+ cd suit
3nt = to play
4c,4d = good 6+ cd suits
4h =signoff
3h = 5+ hearts and 4+ spades
3s = slam interest in spades
3nt = to play
4c,4d = good 6+ cd suits
4h = to play
4s = to play
4nt = likes spades, at least qxxx in spades, slam try
5s = likes spades, jtxx or worse in slades
3s = 5+ hearts and 5+ clubs, good hand
3nt = 6+ hearts, solid suit
4c = 5+ hearts and 5+ diamonds, good hand
2s = spades
over 2s,
2nt = no 5 card suit
3c, 3d, 3h=natural, 5 card suits
3s = likes spades, starts asking bids
3nt = unspecified splinter, 4 cd supp
4c,4d,4h = fit showing jumps, 4 cd supp
2nt = 22-23 bal, sys on
3c = clubs
3d=asking for 4cM, denying 5 card suit,
only way to show Ds is a simple bid of 3nt
3h, 3s=natural, 5 card suits
3nt=5+ diamonds
4c = likes clubs, starts asking bids
4d, 4h, 4s=splinters
5c = signoff, no outside aces
3d = diamonds, no 4 card major
3h, 3s, 4c = 5+ card suits
3nt = no 5 card suits
4d = likes diamonds, starts asking bids
4h, 4s, 5c = splinters
5d = signoff, no outside aces
3h,3s= diamonds and 4 of bid major
3nt = to play
4c = natural, good suit
4d = likes diamonds, starts asking bids
4M = sign-off
4 other M = splinter for d's
4nt = likes major, at least qxxx of that suit.
5c = splinter for d's
5d = signoff, no outside aces
3nt = 4-4-(4-1), game forcing hand, 4c asks for shortness, LH, then 4M is slam
try, 4M directly is to play, 4d = asks for better major, 4nt = asks for m
4c, 4d, 4h, 4s =rkc for bid suit
4nt = both minors
Note that the original hand I posted can be handled by
2C 2D 3H showing 4H and long D. There is more to this - if anyone likes I can email them.
