Partner deals and opens 1, and right hand opponent passes. Can you construct a hand on which you would now bid 6? If scoring method or vulnerability would help, please feel free to adjust that.

I can't make sense of it as a pre-empt, so maybe partner is invited to bid seven with the A. Something like

Kxxxx

AKQJxxxx

Axxxx(x) or Kxxxx(x) and a side 5/6 card suit headed by the Ace and a void somewhere.
But at least 11 cards in trump and the side suit and a void.

Only when NV vs V, with very limited openings, without any points in responder's hand, and when we have all s together (opps will have slam).

To bid 6 to make is ridiculous, so it should be a preempt imo...

5NT should work fine on this hand.

Unless you have an agreement, 6S with a good hand is awful. I don't want to figure out what it asks for at the table, I'm sure that I won't get it right. I agree with Free, this should be a preempt, but I don't expect it ever to come up.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

My thought was that I might want to bid it if I have a very distributional hand with enough spades that I know partner's opening was a psyche. Then I wondered if there was any 'valid' meaning for the bid.

If we hold AKQJ1098765 A A 2, I suppose it's reasonable. I'm not sure partner won't lie to us when we bid 4NT (or pass!), but clearly that's better if not.

playing speedball or having real big time troubles and feeling behind in a team match are the only thinkable reasons besides the one suited hand in spades like Andy showed.

Only if I hate my partner.

Having no agreements about how to show voids, maybe even no agreements about RKC (or similar), I can imagine a lot of hands with which I would bid 6.

Not sure I'd ever do this to me pard with the boss suit.

I've done it in a pickup game though.

The hand probably had a side xx, solid side suit, void and 5 or 6 trump.

If I were going to gamble with a hand like AQxxx xx AKQJxx --- I think I would bid SEVEN spades instead of 6.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

personally, I am having difficulty constructing any hand that might respond 6S that couldn't/ shouldn't be bid some other way.
