C-AQJ953

South West North East
1D Pass 1H 1S
3C Pass 3NT Pass
4C Pass 5C Pass

I would've opened 1C, because 1D followed by 3C isn't absolute forcing, but a reverse is...

And yes, it's a cute hand ;)

Thanks for the reply

I don't know where you are from, but where I learned to play, 1D followed by 3C is a Game force. Plus, we NEVER reverse with equal length. A reverse ALWAYS shows mores cards in the first suit.

We don't play it as a GF, but we DO play it as 100% forcing, and "yes", a reverse ALWAYS shows that the first bid suit is longer and this is standard in ANY system unless you play some sort of canape.

Nice hand, just one question. Isn't this hand too strong to open 1D? Looking at the hand in general I can see two losers. I would have opted for a 2C opening.

There is a school of thought that asserts that 2-suited hands should not be opened 2C.
The opening steals too much space and you never have enough room to describe your shape.

Personally, I agree
