L 41D

This really happened.

The opening lead was made, and the first three tricks were won by opening leader cashing A, K, A in quick succession. TD was summoned prior to trick 4.

Only at this point of the play did anyone notice or realize that dummy had not yet been faced. The player had followed suit with small cards to the first three tricks.

TD directed that dummy now be faced and play continued.

Anything more to do here? The wording of 41D ("dummy spreads his hand") is in the "does" category, so "establishes procedure without suggesting that violation be penalized".

Opening 2M in acbl

Well, I’ve been opening 2M for the last 2 years which shows exactly 4 cards in the Major and a longer minor. Took a glance at the GCC chart ; now I wonder if this is illegal? Having 4 cards in the Major deems the opening a natural bid by the definition so good on that. I know I can open 1M with a 4 card suit and a longer side suit. So can I continue?

Bidding went: 1C by Peter (alert - 16 plus) and opponents over call 1S - Double by me showing 5-7, not alerted - 2S raise by Opponent and back to Peter. Peter bids 3D, alerted and explained as a transfer to Hearts - Peter now realizes he made a mistake - Pass by Opponents and I super accept to 4H. Pass and Peter correct to 5D since he had a Diamond runner...All Pass as I realize Peter made a mistake on his 3D bid.
The auction started PASS PASS.
Half-odd Mitchell Movement

Apologies that this is not a ruling issue, but I did often ask for a f2f Director's forum and I do think that the right people will read here.

I was intrigued by this recent post on that other forum, both because OP must have been directing before most here were born and because he had an insight half a century ago that has been lost and could even remain so.
Unless I am missing something this seems a fine solution for clubs where players are familiar with Mitchell, want no sharing and want to play all the opponents, but get home before midnight.
Does anyone see a fly in the ointment, besides having to duplicate two full sets of boards?

In my club my opponents opened 2D with 6 poor spades and only 1 point. Alerted as a weak bid. I Overcalled 2 S with all the royals. Went down 1 in 4 S.
Is it legal to open weak with 1 point?

Alert non promissory stayman?

ACBL
Playing 4 way transfers over 1nt, should 2C "stayman" be alerted as it it is non promissory stayman?
I think yes. The opponents should know at the earliest opportunity the club bidder may not have a 4cM

I asked this question back in 2021 both here and in NZ. Here I was told responders next bid, if not supporting a major should be alerted as "may not have"
I can't find the thread now. In NZ , they just looked at me strangely, in the clubs I was playing noone played 4 way transfers.

I was listening to this podcast from NZB
and they seem to have now decided 2C non promissory stayman needs an alert, most sensible IMO

What the situation in NA?

Where do you fall?

You are playing South, and your partner pulls out his hand from board 6, when he realizes he didn't score board 5. So he puts his hand down on the table to pick up the Bridgemate. Except he puts it down face up, and the ♠Q is clearly visible. He notices his mistake quickly, and grabs the hand, replaces it face down and scores the board.

Nobody says anything; it's possible the opponents didn't even notice.

Law 24 says this is a card exposed during the auction, and is an infraction.
Law 9A5 says that there is no obligation to draw attention to an infraction of law committed by one's own side (and the exception doesn't apply).
Law 16C says this is unauthorized information for you - but that only triggers when the Director applies Law 24 and requires the card to be replaced on the table face up.

So, if you don't say anything either, ...? As usual, if not "fixed answers", explain in the replies.

(Yes, this happened today in my Sectional. No, my South didn't pull this; she called the Director herself, and I would not expect anything else from her. Yes, the opponents didn't even notice what happened. But in the abstract, it's a "laws vs ethics vs personal ethics" question that I find very interesting, and I would like to see what others think.)

Club tournament, F2F.
NS are experienced players but not frequent partners.

The 2♦ opening is announced by North as Multi and on request of West, explained as "weak two in an undisclosed major OR a three-suited hand OR a strong single-suited minor".
South bids 3NT and all pass.
West leads ♦J and NS take 10 tricks for 3NT+1.
West calls Director, observing that South's hand and bid are not consistent with the explanation supplied and that he fears EW may be damaged in some way.
South says he assumed that Multi was weak two or 18-19 balanced and North says he expected that South would assume North's usual Multi.
At the other tables, all played 3NT, usually Declared by South and receiving ♦J lead. 3NT+1 was common.
How do you proceed and rule?
