Dual messaging discards in ACBL

n ACBL land. are Lavinthal discards only used on the first discard or can they be used on the 2nd ? As I understand them, they are not giving a dual message

While I do believe that when you make the first discard that there's a high probability that you don't like the suit of the card you pitched, but that this is not an absolute hence not dual-messaging.

Can someone who uses lavinthal discards tell me what they do?

I guess int he same vein, I believe odd-even discards cannot be used after the first discard because an even discard gives a dual message, but in theory, could 'odd-only' discards be used on the 2nd discard.

Alerting obligations

Alerting and Announcing regulations vary.

In Australia, we are required to announce length for 1♣ and strength for 1NT. No "Could be short" announcement for a Precision 1♦.

In 3rd & 4th seats we play "modern" Precision, where 1♦ = 2+.

In 1st & 2nd seats we play a Moscito variant. In our case, 1♥ = hearts, 1♠ = majors, 1♦ = 4+ SPADES.
We pre-alert with "Strong club. 1♦ opening = spades in 1st & 2nd seats."

Despite that, when we "Alert" partner's 3rd seat 1♦ opening, many opponents think "Aha! Spades!" and proceed accordingly.

Do we have a special duty of care here? What should we do and say?

Play at the sitout table

Simple 9 rounds x 2 boards Mitchell with a Bye in EW.
You are called eight minutes through the round to a table in a side room where NS (who have already had their sitout) finally realize they are still waiting for their opponents (named on the phone app).
Who can be seen playing at a nearby table, which should be the sitout this round (both pairs at the table had the information on their phone to avoid this).
They have already finished the first board and are busy bidding the second.
South says he already entered the score for the first board, which is impossible.
You take note of the score (good for EW) and lead and then reflect on Law 15 and what to do.
How do you proceed?

L 41D

This really happened.

The opening lead was made, and the first three tricks were won by opening leader cashing A, K, A in quick succession. TD was summoned prior to trick 4.

Only at this point of the play did anyone notice or realize that dummy had not yet been faced. The player had followed suit with small cards to the first three tricks.

TD directed that dummy now be faced and play continued.

Anything more to do here? The wording of 41D ("dummy spreads his hand") is in the "does" category, so "establishes procedure without suggesting that violation be penalized".

Opening 2M in acbl

Well, I’ve been opening 2M for the last 2 years which shows exactly 4 cards in the Major and a longer minor. Took a glance at the GCC chart ; now I wonder if this is illegal? Having 4 cards in the Major deems the opening a natural bid by the definition so good on that. I know I can open 1M with a 4 card suit and a longer side suit. So can I continue?

Pass and Peter correct to 5D since he had a Diamond runner...All Pass as I realize Peter made a mistake on his 3D bid.
