TD Training

International TD Rui Marques is going to explain the finer points of directing Bridge. This will be a 1.5 hour session, with maybe 0.5 hours of Q&A. You can find out more about Rui here. http://www.worldbrid...n.asp?qryid=990

He will focus on:
1) Judgement and Equity concepts, and keeping the integrity of the competition alive.

Judgement:
How should a TD judge claims, concessions, a wrong bid, wrong explanations, undos, etc. Aspects that require judgement from the TD.

Equity
Adjusting insensibly results in giving gifts to non-offenders. Is that right?

How should a TD use his judgement to redress damages? What is consequent and subsequent damage? What is the difference between a wrong explanation and a wrong bid?

2) He will probably touch on differences in TDing because of
a) Cultural differences
b) Differences between directing for higher level and lower level bridge and the allowances a TD should probably make because of this.

3) He will try to talk about internet bridge directing versus real life bridge.

Rui may hold follow-up sessions if necessary.
