imp challenge match, normal bot
Here Gib makes an imaginative lead though I suspect imagination had nothing to do with was from simulation.
Nevertheless, I knew I was toast.

Was K from KJ9xxxx
I bid 2N here as balanced strong as doesn't come up so wanted to see what would happen. I think I need a better stopper as lead shows.

This is one where you say brilliant lead and move on.
Despite posts to the contrary GUBBO's opening leads are very good.

And the next time GIB makes the same type lead, it will fail, and everyone will say it's a bug and GIB is terrible :)

In saying that, I've found that GIB usually takes a no trump / stopper bid far too seriously, often failing to lead the killer suit 2 or 3 times during a contract to gift you a 3NT. That comes down to the 'human bids must always be perfect' rule. If you want some good daylong scores, try some 3NTs with no stoppers.

You call that imaginative? How about

? :)

Ok, ducking the Q cost a trick, but I was starting to think the opening lead must have been from QTx, which is not unheard of.

If GiB leads the K instead, then a very natural line is to win in dummy and play clubs twice towards the hand, resulting in 9 easy tricks.

This is my post # 1000. I suppose I'm an advanced member now. :D

This is from my first ever post "Are these robots wired?": "After two passes RHO bids 1D. I overcall 1NT and get raised to 3. LHO opens the jack spades. I have K9xx in dummy and AQx in hand. Is it really possible for LHO to lead the Jack from Jxx when his partner has opened one diamond? I'll accept my occasional bad play, but these guys are picking my pocket and I have no recourse and no director to call."
