This bidding was repeated at 20+ tables in daylong mp tournament. This isn't my hand i am posting as saw happened to friend and wanted opinions.
4S showed 20 or so pts and sort of has this hand but has wholes. but are you gonna pass 4H? guess double more flexible.
6S showed 10 pts
but why? N is balanced with 1 King you need controls to bid slam. Bidding 5S will be similar result but is 6S surreal or just point counting?
West has KTxx spades and diamond void so people in 6SX had a bloodbath.

I don't have a clue how it's justifying its bid, but I think it's bidding to make, and passed originally because it wanted to play in 4SX.

probably assumes h void and a better spade suit

This is a problem with bidding under pressure with GIB. Unless partner has preempted, it interprets everything as "to make" which is interpreted strictly as having enough values opposite partner's mimimum, which is zero TP in this case. So South needs some 25 TP to expect 4♠ to make. I have even seen it interpret my game level bid after opps' 2♣ opening as showing 25 TP or thereabouts.
