Was playing rubber bridge today against pretty weak competition and the following hand came up



I was hungry and feeling frisky, so I decided to make a rather dubious 3♦ overcall.

The rest of the auction proceeded as follows and it looked as if I was about to pay dearly for my presumption.
Except for the fact the West made a truely god awful opening lead and decided to lead a heart rather than banging down two top trump.

You can probably guess what happened after this...

Maybe west had to pay $1 every time they didn't lead suit partner has bid.
I know a few who seem to play by that rule.

If I am 'hungry and feeling frisky' - yes, it does still happen at my age (!) - I ask my husband to make dinner and break open a bottle of champagne :)
