Problems playing on ipad

I have recently tried to play on ipad, and either get timed out, or ‘frozen’. The cards seem to play very slowly, with many pauses in between. Then suddenly, there is a mad flurry, and cards are played extremely quickly... playing catch-up, it seems! I am using Safari. Does anyone have any advice for me. I don’t have these problems when playing on laptop, which uses Chrome. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm. My partner and I just got ipads, haven't even opened the boxes yet. Can anyone address this and any other problems?

Problems like this are almost always due to a bad connection. The mobile app works fine for most people.
