I have qjx, K9x, xxx, Kxxx and pass. Lefty GIB 2NT. My GIB pass. Righty 3H. pass. Lefty GIB pass. Now my GIB 4S. Blurb shows 9+ HCP. Righty doubles. I blurb 5C from me. 18+ points twice rebiddable clubs. Am terrified and pass. And ALL pass. Loss $10 with no recourse. I had another similar disaster 4 weeks ago. Sent hand to support@bbo.com. Still waiting for reply.

I don't normally comment on GIB bidding and play on these forums now but even I have to say that is totally and utterly ludicrous. No wonder you're upset. It would have been bad enough if you weren't playing for money: playing for money and losing money just makes it ten times worse. You have my sympathy.

thanks The_Badger. I would not mind it as much if BBO provided some relief to such absurdity. After all it is software and can go amuck. Though defense and play are HARD to program. Bidding should be cake in software. Totally BBO's fault, almost arrogance to provide no relief. This is not my first time on MB. 6 years ago I must have sent 1,000 emails to support outlining GIB's mistakes. I must say now GIB is better than 6 years ago. 100% BBO's fault for not providing recourse.

Are there actual metrics that "prove" GIB is better? Something like a 10,000 board team match between a GIB from several years ago and the current GIB, or long matches between the current GIB and the previous year's GIB? Sometimes it seems that GIB is stuck in quicksand, unable to make overall progress.

Or you passed 4♠X and played in a suit opened with a weak 2 by RHO???

I don't understand how 4♠ can show 9+ pts. If bidding diagram is correct very bizarre.

This looks like it will be the same cause as http://www.bridgebas...-weird-cue-bid/ , reported in August and being fixed 'in the next version', whenever that will be.

good point johnu. I can only speak based on my experience. Yes, 6 years ago I must have played 5,000+ hands and sent emails to support@bridgebase.com for > 1,000 hands. I have all the emails in my archives.

auction is correct except 5C was never bid by me. I hovered over 5C and it said "rebiddable clubs 16-18 points" or equivalent. So I passed hoping GIB would take out.

indeed Steve. I would not be concerned if BBO provided relief in such cases. They don't. And are seemingly arrogant about it. Perhaps a lawsuit? After all we are dealing with the public's money and no number of disclaimers can override that.
