Hi Admin,

There was a problem with the matches between Derppp and me. I finished my boards, but Derppp was not able to play all 16 boards (thru 9) when his time expired. The result at that point was Powerduck 5 - Derppp 10

http://webutil.bridg...264&u=powerduck

What should we do? take the partial as the final result? or play an additional challenge with 7 boards and then add up 2 results ?

OK, let's wait a while and see if derppp can explain it (otherwise I'll make adjustment).

Here's my account of what happened:

(All times are given in my local time, which is GMT +08:00)

1) I sent powerduck the challenge on 28 August, 07:41am.
2) The challenge still wasn't accepted when I slept on 30 August, 10:30pm.
3) The challenge had been accepted when I woke up on 31 August, 6:30am (so powerduck accepted the challenge sometime when I was asleep).
4) I started playing the challenge after breakfast (with less than an hour left), and was halfway through bd 10 when it expired.

If that is the case can you guys just play another 7 boards match to complete?

Athough claiming should probably be disabled when playing against robots.

Claiming against robots is a feature that was requested for a long time. While it's true that it can sometimes be used to get around memory failures, most of the time it's just a useful timesaver. I wish we could get the robot to claim when it's down to all winners.

I sadly admit that I use tactic (1) sometimes.

I suggest you play a 1 board match and use that to replace board 13. You shouldn't be penalized for a BBO bug (we're still trying to figure out what happened).

Players should probably be more considerate of potential problems like this. If there's less than a day before the challenge expires, reject the challenge and issue a new one in its place.

Or if you're the challenger and they haven't accepted before you go to sleep on the last night, cancel and reissue the challenge.

A clarification question. When I login to BBO, it shows in the popup box that my robot is "basic". Is that correct?

Yes. That's the kind of robot you rented for the main bridge club, it's not related to challenges.

Thanks.

If I just do challenges with strangers, do I still get advance robots?
