Gib counts points for voids. Even in NT, even in partners suit. It has no clue.

LOL perhaps needs to be replaced by GOL now - Groan Out Loud. GIB's weird bids are just far too commonplace overall. As Steve says 'It has no clue'. And I agree.

Gib bids and plays as well as the average BBOer :)
Gib's main failing is post-mortem ATB :(

e.g. Swap defenders' honours :)

Sure, on the original hand, move around a few cards and 3NT could be good. In general, you need to find a spade stop(s), maybe some spade length, heart help, and a good club fit for 3NT to be a good contract. MP or IMPs would make a difference. I don't think 3NT rates to be a good contract opposite an average 1NT overcall even though I've been in a lot worse contract.

Guys...this was not about the result and not about my score. It was all about the alert and what it actually had. I think I got a good score for going down -1 so....I have no idea why you keep writing how 3 NT would end if it had this or had that...

GIB's book bids and their descriptions can't possibly be comprehensive to cover every range and distribution at all times (neither can a human's).

It picks what it thinks is the best 'lie' that will lead to the optimal contract.

Not saying its bid here was right; but in this case it has to be about the long term expectation of the result and the score, not whether the description matches.

Your hand is too strong for 1NT over 1D. More like double then 1NT.
Getting into 3NT one trick short DD is almost a sure thing against GIBs so it is a good contract in the context- it has almost got it TP. The correct way to play it is after getting in with spade, run your clubs then try diamonds or hearts depending on GIB's awful discards.

It's very sad, but these hands where GIB apparently awards itself shortness points when there is no fit, or NT is the target contract, are posted so frequently that they barely register for those who play a lot. Thus the focus goes to just how bad the bid actually was.
