I was playing daylong-tourney on android mobile-app, going home from work.
At one deal, the bidding was completed and I was in the middle of the play when I had to interrupt the game.

Later logged on again (same userid, but from laptop web-browser) to continue...
I was then served the same hand I interrupted, but FROM THE BEGINNING of the hand,
and could bid the hand differently while knowing exactly what cards pd had.

Looks like a bug (not a feature B-)) that needs to be urgently fixed, obviously.

This happened to me last night as well. I was on a really bad WiFi, and lost my connection in the middle of a hand. When I reconnected later, the hand I was in the middle of got restarted from the beginning. I was originally in a really bad contract, so I was able to bid it differently and then defend essentially double dummy.

Sweet.

Guess this is the reason I never win these daylongs! :D

re "bad wifi"... (i had decent connection on the mobile)

But, afaiu, it is the bbo-server totally controlling the robots?
No robot actions are determined in the client, right?

If this is correct,
every bid or card played by a robot must always have originated from the server,
and thus be registered there.

So, bad wifi or not, should then not have any bearing for this bug.

The bad wifi isn't related to the bug, it's just the reason why I logged out and logged back in later. The bug is that you can disconnect in the middle of a hand and the system forgets where you were.

Daylongs and challenges are done very differently from our traditional tourneys. Instead of the server keeping all the state in memory, it's saved in a database, and apparently this database isn't being updated properly when you logout in the middle of a hand.

First of all, we don't recommend playing bridge while driving. :)

Seriously, we think we've discovered the cause of this bug. We should hopefully have this fixed in a few days.

I know it's an impossibility in the U.S., but some people are able to go home without driving themselves :-).

I promise you that the last three weeks in India, I played some BBO going home from work, even in Bangalore traffic. Trust me, I wasn't driving!

It was a joke, I didn't really think that's what you were doing.

I wonder if some of the top scorers will see decreases in their future results.
