i

i thought when i q bid 3d i set clubs as trumps. when the bot bid 3s i think it is a q bid.
i q bid the second time to elicit a heart q or at least that was my reasoningl
i guess the bot thinks im agreeing spades. anyhow i eventually had to
bid 7nt to shut him up. i think it is an error for the north bot not
to pass 6nt at least.

anyhow what is correct here?

You will normally get more value from responses in these threads if you post hands that include the explanations attached to the bids as supplied by GIB.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,
2000 years earlier: "morituri te salutant"

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

I think you are at fault. Over 3D, GIB can't bid 3NT with no D stopper. So rather than bid 4C it shows a S suit. Now you needed to check the meaning of 4D before making that call. I suspect it did show Spades.

Mind you, your original cuebid in a minor suit auction should deny a 4 card major, so GIB should not get the wrong message. The description of the 3D cue should be changed to indicate no 4CM.

So saying you are at fault is an overstatement, since several GIB problems led to the final poor result. Unfortunately if you make one mistake that misleads GIB, it is usually impossible to recover.
