West leads the seven of hearts against your normal spade game, and you win the jack with your ace, and play a spade to the queen, but East shows out. Over to you. And do you think you should have run the nine of spades on the first round?

No need for a trump squeeze. You can just play a top diamond, and they either ruff and force you in hearts when you can elope with ten tricks, or they can play ace and another spade when you are also ok.
