Maybe I am only supposed to bid 3 here, but with both black suits well stopped and 4 cd heart only I think North is supposed to bid 3nt (or maybe only 2nt) ahead of 3. I'd always have 5 hearts for 3 myself.

Agree seems like 2NT or 3NT whatever it is worth to you.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I think your argument above are specious, your expert's opinions really made me surprised .

1- Of course, Stephen Tu should bid 3 to show 3-card sopport, and Stephen Tu should also know 3 has same definition with 4. Here, why would you bid 3 instead of 4? Maybe you have some reasons, however I have to tell you smart Gib has a good way to handle with such hand so well.
Now see my basic Gib how to play.

Good job !!! my basic Gib !

2- Here, I think the main cause of the problem is Gib CC.
After rebid-2, north has no way to show 4-4 majors since 2 says " Responder reverse --- 5+,biddable ,13+TPs, forcing to 3N". So this is a issue about Gib bidding system instead of programming. And it really has no anything to do with bidding 2NT or 3NT in fact.

Agree with Stephen Tu and JDonn. I rank
1. 3N = NAT. Not all layouts are as unfriendly as this.
2. 2N = NAT. Might work better here. John Matheson plays 1Banana-1Rasberry-2Bananas-2N as F1.
2. 3 = NAT. Should promise 5+ s, IMO. (But not necessarily 4+ s).

Lycier should not have bid 2S. 3NT is obvious.

With hand one, the GIB manages to misposition the 3NT bid which with only makes with GIB's bad hand play- no sense in switching to diamonds (or hearts or spades) after the club lead with single dummy view and bidding consideration South has long diamonds.
