I'm not crazy about my 2 bid - wasn't there a risk I could play there?

Having got this far, I'll venture 5. I don't like it much, but I know X is ending the auction, and I doubt we'll score much for letting them play in 5. On a really bad day, they'll make it.

(ETA if double was penalties over 1N, I double now)

doesn't double show my hand perfectly now?

lots of convertible values and extra length. yeah i might be endplaying partner, but such is life.

Doesn't it depend on what it would have been before? If pens, then I guess it shows a hand like this. If something else (in which case 2 was presumably forcing after all), don't we need it just to show a big hand?

I rank
  • 5 = Partner is unlikely to have a 4 card major but with luck he has 2-3 s.
  • Double = Cpmpetitive.
  • Pass = Timid

Double looks clear.

Unilaterally forcing our side to the 5 Level is not winning bridge.
