from a team game on BBO

1 - do you agree with the first pass

2 - what now?

Opps system ?

If this can be a 2 card club in a weak NT I agree with the pass intending to X 1N.

I think 2N should be natural here, so It's about the best I can manage.

We play a pass over a 2 card club then bidding clubs as natural, but this hand is a bit good.

Hi,

#1 The first pass is ok, the alternative would be X followed
by 1NT.

#2 2T.

Assuming a direct 2T was art. this has to be natural, you are still
likely to miss game, if you have it, but first of all you should try
to go plus.

I would also doubt the general soundness of a psych in this position,
but if it works, I wont argue with success.

With kind regards
Marlowe

I rank
  • 2N = NAT. Agree with Cyberyeti: the auction raised your suspicions and this bid now ensures that partner shares those suspicions,
  • Double = Flexible but misdescriptive.
  • 2 = NAT. But an underbid,
  • 1N = NAT. Ditto
  • 3 = NAT. Committal.

3nt now and I would probably have bid it already.

I'm not expecting a psyche, it's a guarantee unless the opening bidder is so feeble they pass forcing unlimited bids.

double 1s and bid clubs. this should show a strong hand with clubs, as doubling and bidding a new suit does in normal circumstances.

there's no need for going wild - LHO is still unlimited.

there's nothing wrong with passing a club.
