I have played several instant master point tournaments in the last couple of days and have noticed that the gib defends differently than in the original tournament . I assume it is because of the gib upgrade. It seems that the tournaments should be constructed using hands from tournaments with the same gib version.

It sounds like an interesting idea, but I suspect that the implementation would be complicated. At present they only have two (basic and advanced) current GIB versions on the server. Instinctively it sounds to me to be a major upheaval to have a third (previous advanced) version on standby for a small population of instant tourneys. And it is only for a fairly short period of time (used to be longer) that you have this overlap, each time a new version of GIB is released, which only happens about once every 9 months. Give it a few more weeks and I expect that the Instants that you play in will have version 35 at the other tables.

Speaking personally, I would rather have the most up to date GIB at my table, purely for the sake of preserving my sanity, even if it does mean that the actions at other tables may be less predictable.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,
2000 years earlier: "morituri te salutant"

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

We implemented this feature about a year ago.

However, when we deploy a new version of GIB, it takes while to collect enough tournaments to use for instant tourneys. So during the first 2 weeks of the new deployment, we continue to use tourneys that were played with the previous version.

This is still much better than the way things used to be. We used to use tournaments that were more than a year old for instant tourneys, so they were several GIB versions behind, so there had been many changes to the robots. Now for a 2 week period they're just one version behind, so the number of differences is relatively small.
